There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not permitted. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that contains a number of conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
